Back from Europe! Diamond’s Summer Wraps up (SADLY)

So this post is pretty much the wrap of my literary and television discoveries (and failures) this summer...it feels a little incomplete perhaps, since there is no mention of Bosnia or anything.

Should I do a post about my time in Bosnia?

I feel like I should...but I also feel like ya'll may be sick of Bosnia and my posts all over social media... hmm...let me know in the comments below! I would totally do some pictures and a recap if you guys wanted. I'm so sad to be back... lol. :c  I loved it there.

I got to see so many countries.... and I really like that part of Europe. The people are so nice and I find it honest. Not to mention the food is excellent... *sigh*

The only thing that is cheering me up right now is that I am going on my last year of graduate school and THEN I will be free to pursue a career in whatever country I desire! And in the meantime, this year I can and will do some more traveling. Now that I know how to travel cheaply and safely...*I feel safer traveling alone now* I mean, whats to stop me now xP

Books read this summer…

Hands down my favorite book this summer *one of the favs all year*
It kept me laughing out loud, and I was so interested in the topic too. Ansari is so funny though...if you like him even just in Parks and Recreation, you are a fan. Also, the topic was so relevant to me. Yes, I am the tinder generation...an active participant. And as a single lady I admit I ate this shit up! So fascinating to me how, from a sociological perspective, dating has changed with the technology and how we look for our soulmates in a different way which marks this greater shift in our culture to marry later and later... plus that fear of divorce.
Wow, I think I just wrote a mini review on this! haha..

GUILTY PLEASURE ALERT
Do you sense a theme here? Yes, this summer my heart was healing from a breakup....and these books were just the trick. Rational thinking always helps me heal after the incredulity that a breakup always inspires.

And this was just bliss. So cute. OMG. >.<

DNF...yet
For some reason I was never in the mood for Magnus Chase :( I didn't read more than 1 page the entire summer... but I'm not giving up on this series!! I do miss Percy Jackson tho :c
also didn't finish lumberjanes and never started the graphic novel, Giant Days... not yet anyway.

TV Shows

I *discovered* this summer

Thanks to Netflix in Bosnia (US Netflix doesn’t have Rick and Morty O_o

Definitely, Rick and Morty is a show people have begged me to see. They all say, you’d love it! Somehow though, I never got around to watching it until I looked at my drastically different Netflix screen in Bosnia this summer.
Now,  Ididn’t spend a lot of time in my apartment, (i mean, adventure called!) the city of Sarajevo was much more alluring than Netflix (and yes, even books! eek!) But don’t worry, I brought books with me anyway…and got some reading it haha :P

Back in US and I'm already hooked on the Netflix original series: Marco Polo, btw. Which, although I didn't discover while abroad it is still technically summer sooo gotta throw it in there :O

 Currently Reading
Pretty Good..not sure if I can finish it though. I am remembering a lot of the problems I had with the first book that I had forgotten. Thanks to the repost of the review last week I had an "aha" moment with that. Lol, but thats okay. Not all books can be finished.

So cute so far. That's all I can say :rainbow

(some) Recently Acquired Review Books

Thank you Delacorte Press* and Random House for thinking of me and sending these for review consideration (The Secret Horses of Briar Hill and If the Magic Fits).

The Secret Horses of Briar Hill --> I can't wait to read Megan Shepherd's foray into middle grade! You know, the fabulous author of The Madman's Daughter trilogy I love? :L

Stacking the Shelves #35

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga @ Tynga's Reviews

This month really wasn't the 'month' to buy books. I'm still waiting on my spring break to come through so I could spend most days in Barnes & Noble on my computer sipping coffee. I'm also getting my stipend in April, which ultimately means book-buying crazeeeee. But anyways, I did receive some books from publishers and won a few giveaways :D

Books I Bought

My review for Kill The Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky --> here

Books I Received for Review

I received Run from the YA Teen Author Festival at Books of Wonder in March! I'm so excited to read it because she says it's very different from The DUFF. I also received a box from the Novel Tea Club subsription to review. It's a monthly sub box that caters for the perfect night in. There are usually 5-7 items included, always with a book and some sort of tea package! I loved my March box and you can read my review and get a discount code here

Monthly Wrap-Up! July

Hope everyone had a fantastic month! Was it just us or did July pass by the slowest so far this year? We've been doing so much work and renovation on the blog, and we appreciate all of you that have stayed with this site for so long! You guys rock. :L

Diamond's Wrap Upthis is going to be a very short wrap up for me since I am in the midst of moving!I literally don’t know how it’s gong to happen because I haven’t really started putting much in boxes and I have three days :i *laughs nervously* It’ll work out though…somehow. right? ;) THANK YOU for being patient with me. Don’t worry all the winners of the giveaways have ben picked and the information is given to the pubisher(s) except for the design giveaway I will be emailing the winner this weekend and mailing out the prize the following week due to.. moving. lol. I have about a month left of summer before I start my new position as official graduate student in Library and Information student at UCLA *woooohoo* *another nervous laugh* Oh. who’s nervous? Ok, well I am a little bit. It’ a lot..the move 30 mins away to a new city to a new studio which i have no idea what it looks like (they jut assign you a room randomly and no questions are answered to those who call and try t find out tidbits of information ;)  So I’ll be busy unpacking, shopping, working (gotta try t9o make up the money that I seem to be hemorrhaging!) Although July was a crazy busy month for me I did have some big amazing fun while I hemorrhaged money from all areas lol. I just attended my cousin’s wedding two nights ago. It was a magical and beautiful ceremony. Ve4y lovely and guess what?! I caught the bouquet!! :star Will I be the next to marry? Gosh, I hope so. I am totally single though, so I don’t know when/how it will happen but *fingers crossed* that the new location and new apartment will be fortuitous for me. ^_^ As for books,  I did pick up a lot of good ones, not so many review books though! A few of us were having a twitter chat a week ago about July and August being slow for getting review books. well, thats is okay with me! I have so much on my plate anyway and it’s been great to catch up. I promise next week I will be back on the blog full force with some reviews! Prepare for my review of The Luck Uglies #2 , The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen #2, The Lumberjanes (reading now and loving it! Should be finishing this week) :O And more you’ll have to wait and see.
Some books I got this month (may be forgetting a few—I’ve been a scatterbrain this month though, I blame it on the increased demands on my brain and organization - how much can one brain take?!)

(some) stuff I got this month :e

Monthly Wrap-Up! June

June is what you call the month where the season of summer finally takes over. Beaches are opened, swimmers and beach-goers are sprawled out in the sun. It can't get any more better than this! Oh wait, actually it can! Summer means no school and no school means more READING. So without further ado, we present our fun-in-the-sun month of June! ^_^

Weekly Wrap-Up

So for awhile now I have been doing MONTHLY wrap up posts where Alex and I include our book haul, posts, etc.

As soon as I published that April post, the very next day…and day after that…I kinda went a little crazy on EW and Netgalley :$ as well as the library bookstore and using my Barnes & Noble coupons (because they expire and then those 20% coupons will never see the light of day again…) I have been doing SO well abstaining from getting tons of review books since I don't have any reading time (seven days of working will do that).

However, the good news is this week is the first week that my schedule changes. I requested 1 day off every week (either Saturday or Sunday) and I have Weds off after 12 noon. So it's like a half day. I'm working on doing a full day off Weds so I can have two days off like a normal person, although they'll be non-consecutive.

I feel compelled to post my book haul this week, I know if I wait I will forget some and also because I AM SO EXCITED about these books guys! The sequel to Messenger of Fear, Tatooed Heart is now in my grasp I don't know how I am going to wait to read it. I also can't wait for another genie tale in A Whole New World..Aladdin retelling *yesplease* :O

The excitement over books was back in full force this week and I am more than happy to switch up the blog post norm and share my excitement with y'all. As always, I *love* your feedback! Have you read or heard of any of these upcoming releases? What are you reading or do you have a recommendation for me?

This week I'll be posting a few more of my graphic novel reviews, so keep an eye out for that. Including an actual Marvel graphic novel (who knew?!) lol. I'm currently in the middle of Nora Roberts Blood Magick, it's the 3rd book in the series with witches and yes its romance. It's really tame though. It's less hot than most of the YA books I read, but I enjoy the series and I'm so glad to add another series to my "finished series" list ;)
