August Wrap-UP! Dee comes out to say hello!

August is over.

I can't believe it. August is over. With September comes the start of school (for me, not until the 21st!) and the start of classes brings its own sort of excitement (and a little dread too). I'm a bubble of anxiety and excitement, and also just continually thinking of what I forgot to do or what I need to do. I got a new planner from Barnes and Noble that is really helping keep me organized (in addition to adding things to my calendar and my Reminders on my trusty iPhone. I had a good summer. I didn't do much, but I am going to Las Vegas for Labor Day weekend! So I'll be out of town (and off the blog from Sept 6- 9th.  I will schedule a few posts, no doubt you have noticed that Alex has been taking over the reigns while I get settled in at my new job and get reading to start school. I didn't know how much work it is to get started in grad school but unlike undergrad they expect you to be on top of things and check your email 1000 times a day–apply for fellowships–and know what you want to specialize in before you have taken 1 class1 Well, that's not me. I don't know what I want to specialize in until I start taking some classes1 They all sound great to me, that's the problem :P

Best Book: Dissonance by Erica O'Rourke

Best Couch Potato Advocate: Netflix

Best Movie: Wet Hot American Summer (the movie) - Hilarious. Watched it after the series so I really "got" a lot of jokes that I may not have since sometimes I'm obvlivious (also I knew it was a farce comedy about camp movies in the 80s. that helped.
Best TV Show: Wet Hot American Summer (the entire series.)  AMAZING. I laughed so hard I almost peed. If you haven't seen this series already--you need to. immediately. So many talented and hilarious actors and actresses (seriously)! From Jon Hamm to Kristen Wigg to Bradley Cooper and Amy Poehler, I mean the list goes on and on. If you have watched it--did you laugh as hard as I did (almost peeing pants)? Did any of you pee your pants in actuality? ;)

  1. Grad School sounds crazy busy! So I'd say a weekend in Las Vegas will be just perfect for switching off and forgetting about it all. It's on my wishlist of places to visit and I will make it happen someday! I've nothing new happening in Sept and I really need to make some goals for the month including some fun things to do as I'm kind of just drifting along at the moment. You've inspired me now to stop that!

    1. I’m glad I inspired you! Las Vegas was great, much needed and I feel like I pushed the reset button successfully! Especially because I read some great books! Knock on wood, but i really feel like I had a great time and now that I feel I’m not in a reading slump but actually am eager to keep reading while the good stories keep coming :) I hope you get to visit Vegas sometime Trish. It’s an amazing city. And it’s only one hour flight from Los Angeles so it’s really an easy trip ;)
