1 month Blogging Break
Hello lovers!
As many of you know, things have been rapidly changing in my personal life. I decided to take a 1 month break from blogging. Before you gasp loudly ( :o ), let me explain.
I will still be reading.
But, my priority won't be my eARCs and review books. My priority will be my life, and the many many books I've bought or been gifted that I haven't even touched. It's just gotten to a point where I don't even want to read anymore because I'm so sad that I never get to read what I want. :c So, I thought, wow that's stupid! How did I allow myself to get like this? It's no ones fault but my own. I just allowed myself to forget the joy of not planning your next book, not calendaring your next lazy Sunday read, and just picking a book up off my shelf just for the heck of it. It's what I've been doing the past week and it feels good.
So I decided to take a one month break and just live, read (without thinking of reviewing!) but, if I feel like writing a review-- I will! And I'll schedule the review to post when I return. I know you guys will miss me but I'll still be following your blogs! And hopefully I'll return much more rested and less crabby and ready to tackle more review books (but never to the extent that I was doing, it's just not worth it).
As always, I want to know what you think. Comment away, my loves.
Oh -- and Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you all have hot dates tonight, I know I do :k

I hope you get in a few good books that you want to read! :)
ReplyDeleteI get exactly the same, I took some time off last year for the same reason, so I get that. Kind of glad to know I'm not the only one it happens to.
ReplyDeleteTake care and enjoy your chill time ♡
Thanks Sarah!! <3 You're def not the only one... It's so exhausting
DeleteEnjoy your month off! Hopefully you will start only accepting reviews on books you want to read. You can do that, you know. :e Take care.
ReplyDeleteHaha I know. But even only reviewing what I want to review is still frustrating when I know I have to review each book I read. Or that I don't have time to read a random book, u know? ;) thanks deb
DeleteEnjoy your hot date and your break from eARC's.
ReplyDeleteI'm positive this will help you get back in the groove of things. I understand how you feel and support your decision. It's easy to get lost in review books. I have so many books on my shelves that have been neglected for so long! Have a wonderful, relaxing month reading!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely can be difficult to keep a balance and not over-commit to some things. I hope you enjoy your month off and then come back ready to love blogging again. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tressa! :O I hope so too!
DeleteI know what you mean. I have tons of my own reads I rarely get to anymore. I'm slowly changing my schedule to allow more MY reads into the mix though. I think that will stave off the burnt out feeling I get occasionally. Enjoy your break! :)
ReplyDeleteI think it will too! Thanks so much dear ;)
DeleteYou haven't really been on Twitter for a while so I know: long time, no talk. But I'm still here ;) I know how it feels. I think it was good that as a new blogger I didn't just rush into caring what I reviewed. It meant I had a good while not having the pressure. Since I have, more breaks have been needed & I guess I've seen it a lot to realize that for some reason or another- we all need breaks, as bloggers. We're humans who want to read (or *should* most of all want that). So, yeah, take the break & I hope you come back fresh & renewed. I look forward to seeing you after & I know your blog will be the better for it & so will you! Trust me, if you don't come back happier take a longer one ;) We'll miss you but take care of yourself. We're not the most important people for Dee's Read AT ALL.
ReplyDeleteGod bless, laters!

Thank you so much Amy! And I'm already on twitter way more thanks to this break! Your comment really made me feel a lot better.. And I think you're right about breaks being essential to bloggers. :h
DeleteI stopped accepting review blog tours a while back...now I just read what I want, in what order I want. And I let all authors know they are going in my queue but it may be a while and I make no promises on when I will get to a particular book. It's always important to remember the reason we started reading in the first place
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY! Thanks Michael. *high five* for really getting me. :P
DeleteI'm also trying something similar to this. Instead of rushing to the library for that shiny new novel that everyone is talking about but hasn't read yet and adding it to the pile of ten other library books. I'm taking a break from library books and focusing on reading books from my own shelves. I have so many piling up that need to be read. It's just easy to get lost in the idea of keeping up with all the great books that come out every month. I'm tired of feeling rushed to read, though, so I'm going to try to slow it down this year and just enjoy what I read. :)
ReplyDeleteGo, Stacy! I'm certain you'll like it that way better. And, you know, once u get in the groove you can fit in a new release once in awhile for series u follow or whatever. :D
DeleteIt's sad to hear that though I'm thinking the same thing one of these days :)) Enjoy your break :D
ReplyDeleteHi Dee! I found your blog through bloglovin, so I figured to stop by and check it out. I am also now following your blog through there, GFC, networked blogs, etc.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand needing a break once and awhile. This happened to me around October/November last year. I just got too overwhelmed with life (I work 2 jobs) and then too many author requests to review their books-- I couldn't remember the last time I had read a book just for the hell of it. So I took an almost 2 month hiatus and felt much better when I came back. So I wish you the best while on your break. And much happy reading!
Feel free to stop by my blog sometime. I am always looking for new blogger buddies to chat with!
Best Wishes,
Mia @ The Muses Circle
Oh, I just saw this! We all need a break sometimes, and life should always be the priority. Hope you still find books to enjoy during your time off, Dee--we'll be here when you get back!
